SCIENCE FACT: Sperm whales hold the record for the heaviest brain of any animal, weighing in at about 20 lbs. (9 kilograms).

Feel free to email your answer to the brainteaser to me each week.

Old teaser: While walking down the street I met a man. He tipped his hat and drew his cane and in this riddle I told his name. What is the man's name?

Answer: Andrew ("and drew his cane")

Jon H. and Amand H emailed me the correct answer to this week's teaser.  Well done.

New Teaser:  If three cats catch three mice in three minutes, how many cats would be needed to catch 100 mice in 100 minutes?

Period 1:  Aquatic Biology

Fiedl work is done, or almost so.  Good weather could make a couple of additional trips to the field possible.
Last week's unit tests were VERY disappointing.  More study time is required if you are going to be successful.
DON'T FORGET:  "Save the Fish" wraps up this week.  Handouts are due Tuesday.  Presentations are due, and will begin in class, Thursday.

HOMEWORK: Save the Fish project

Period 3:  Bio 1B

Overall, a very nice job on last week's chemistry test.  This week, we'll begin microscope training.

Homework:  A handout will be provided in class Monday.  Completed handouts will be due on Wednesday.

Period 5, 7 and 8:  Bio 1A

On Monday, we'll wrap up chemistry lecture with a little more on water, and on pH.  YOU CAN EXPECT A UNIT TEST ON ALL OF CHEMISTRY (both the review of basic chemistry and biochemistry)ON THURSDAY.  I'll be providing a review outline, and a review worksheet.

After we have finished the unit test, we'll be moving on to microscope training and a microscope lab.

Homework: Microscope homework assignments were handed out in class today (Thurs. 10/30).  They are due tomorrow (Fri. 10/31)
