Mrs. Balavender's School Notes

Welcome to my school notes page. I will update this page every week or so. You can check to see what we are doing in the classroom.

A Big Welcome to All Third
Graders

And their Parents Too!

Looking
forward to meeting all my new third graders  - Christian,
Philip, Cara, Hayden, Caroline, Samuel C., Oskar, Emily, Haley, Samuel G., Evelin, Anna, Shane, Dylan, Chloe, Xavier, Jack, Lindsey, Abigail, and Kristina!

Our
first week of school will be a busy one.
We will get settled into our classroom (Room 411), find our desks and get our books.  We will spend time getting to know each
other and make new friends and visit with old ones. We will share our summer adventures and we’ll get into the groove of
being 3rd graders! What fun.

Parents, I look forward to meeting you too on Wednesday evening, September 3rd at our Curriculum night at Roaring Brook School from 7:45 to 8:15pm. This will provide an excellent opportunity to meet one another.

I am in the process of changing from School Notes to our new First Class Web page.  So bear with me will I work to get it set up.  Please keep checking my web page.

I leave you with this wonderfully funny poem about the first day of school.

 The First Day of School

by Judith Viorst

Will they let me go when I need to go to the bathroom?

And what if I get lost on my way back to class?

And what if all of the other kids are a hundred, a thousand,a million times smarter than I am?

And what if we have a spelling test, or a reading test, or an ...anything else test, and I'm the only person who doesn't pass?

And what if my teacher decides that she doesn't like me?

And what if all of a sudden a tooth gets loose?

And what if I can't find my lunch. or I step on my lunch, or I (oops) drop my lunch down someplace like the toilet?

Will they just let me starve or will someone lend me a sandwich?

A cookie? A cracker? An apple? Some juice?

And what if they say,"do this" and I don't understand them?

And if there's teams and nobody picks me to play?

And what if I took off my sneakers and also my socks and my sweatshirt and T-shirt

And started the first day of school on the second day?
