It is hard to believe that the final quarter of this year is here. Our eighth graders are almost high schoolers. WOW!
This term we will be studying the why and how the United States developed into a world power. Then we will discuss World War I. We will briefly look at the carefree Roaring Twenties followed by the Great Depression. We will then examine the rise of totalitarianism in some countries and how this resulted in World War II. Finally we will read the novel Animal Farm by George Orwellto demonstrate how corrupt and abusive governments can achieve and maintain power. Of course, we will continue our discussions on current events' issues such as the election and current Supreme Court decisions.
This year has been one of tremendous learning and growing for all of us. May the students enthusiasm and interest travel with them to their high schools.
Have a wonderful summer and good luck in high school.
