Dear Parents,
I hope you and your families are continuing to enjoy this lovely weather. As I am preparing to get back to school, I wanted to update you on a few things. First of all, Happy Earth Day! RBS will be celebrating Earth Day all next week.
*Monday April 28th through Friday May 2nd, students can bring in old sneakers for the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe Collection. Sneakers will be recycled to make running tracks, basketball courts and playgrounds.
*Throughout the week, students who bring their lunch to school should try to bring in a "waste-free" lunch. Use washable containers and lunchboxes instead of plastic bags and paper bags.
*On Wednesday, April 30th, all students will attend a performance of 'one Family/One Planet," an interactive concert by Kim and Reggie Harris, that stresses the importance fo taking care of each other and the environment, too.
*Thursday, May 1st, students in Grades 1 - 4 can stop by the EnviroScape during recess and learn about polluted runnoff!
Make everyday and Earth Day and recycle at home and at school! Please remember to recycle empty inkjet cartridges. The PTO Environment Committee collects them year-round in the computer room and sells them to Inkjet Warehouse in Canton. The PTO uses the money to buy prizes for RBS students who do environmentally friendly things!
On another note, my new website is 99% ready to go online. I am hoping for Tuesday or Wednesday. I will send out an e-mail to let you all know.
Also, I need 16 clear 2 liter soda bottles for a special rain forest project. If you have any, please consider recycling them by sending them into school for this project.
Thank you in advance for all of your help and support throughout the year.

Dear Parents,
This past week the children completed their study of Medieval times and began their journey to the warm, tropical rainforests of the world. They will be learning about many rainforest animals, plants, insects, amphibians and mammals. For more details on this past week, please click on the attached newsletter.

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of your help this week. The parade and feast were a great success and the children had a wonderful time.
They also had a great learning experience at the Recycling Center. I will be sending home an update on items that are to be recycled in Avon. Please go over it with your children so that they can help you recycle at home. It is so important that this become a part of our daily lives -- for the environment and for our children's future.
Thank you again for your continued support at home and in the classroom.

Have fun and keep your child reading daily!
You can also go to the Roaring Brook website and go to the Library portion. Choose "summer reading" and this site will allow you to select a grade level with selections of fiction and non-fiction books on appropriate reading levels for your child. Once you make the selection a list will be generated for you of titles and authors that are on grade level.
