The links shown above will take you to the weekly assignments of all my classes. I try to post them each week Sunday evening or Monday morning. All students are given copies on Monday morning.
Below, you will find an outline of my classroom requirements and my teaching objectives for the year.

Classroom Requirements:
Materials: Each day, students are expected to have the following items in class when class begins:
3 Ring Binder for Chemistry Materials Scientific Calculator Pencil or Pen
Behavior:
Be respectful and expect respect from others. Behavior inconsistent with the guidelines found in the EHS Student Handbook will be punished to the full extent of the law.
Students who are asked to leave class for disciplinary reasons will receive zero credit for worked missed in class and any subsequent missed work.
Grading:
In general, students are graded as follows:
40% Test Average, 20% Lab Average, 20% Quiz Average 20% Class/ Homework
Homework assignments handed in late will be graded 50% off after one day late. More than one day late zero credit is given.
Lab reports handed in late are marked off 10% for each day late. After 3 days zero credit is given.
Lab Reports and Plagiarism
All class work is to be done individually, unless otherwise instructed. Lab partners may share data but may not copy calculations, graphs, text, or any other part of a lab from one another or any other student. Where copying is suspected, a grade of zero will be given to all participants and the appropriate authorities will be notified.
Other Extremely Important Topics:
Labs missed because of absence must be made up no more than 1 week after returning to school.
Failure to be prepared for class, poor behavior, lack of completed homework, chronic lateness to class may result in after school teacher detentions.
Quizzes/Tests/HW missed due to absences are to be made up on the first day you return to school, UNLESS the absences is due to illness.
Use of calculators for the playing of games in class is prohibited and may result in the confiscation of your calculator.
Use of cell phones in class at any time is forbidden.
Objectives for Student Learning
Science
The students will:
1. Be responsible for their homework and classwork. Their homework and classwork will be done correctly and will be handed in on time.
Assessment:
•Most homework will be collected and graded and will represent 20% of the students quarter grade.
•Late homework is accepted only 1 day late and is marked off 50%. After 1 day late, homework is not accepted.
2. Be attentive in class and keep organized notes and papers.
Assessment:
•Students will keep class notes in a 3 ring binder and a pocket folder for hand outs. The notebook and folder will be checked and graded periodically to insure completeness and neatness.
3. Use laboratory equipment properly and safely.
Assessment:
•Proper lab skills and lab safety are an intregral part of the lab work. Unsafe lab practices or behavior will result in the students removal from the lab and a lab grade of zero.
4. Learn the proper method for writing lab reports.
Assessment:
•Lab reports will be written for most labs and will be graded as part of the students lab grade.
5. Express their understanding of concepts in written form.
Assessment:
•The student will write essays about some aspects of the course which demonstrates a clear understanding of the concepts discussed. The essay will be graded as part of the unit test or quiz grades.
6. Utilize the fundumental math skills required for this course. Students will bring a scientific calculator to class and will learn to use it for the basic calculations needed for this class.
Assessment:
•Having a scientific calculator each day is a class requirement. Students will be checked periodically for their calculator.
•The proper use of calculators will be checked periodically in “calculator quizzes”.
•Math skills are assessed as a part of weekly quizzes and tests.
7. Demonstrate respect for others.
Assessment:
•Students are expected to behave in a manner which shows respect for all others in the classroom. The teacher will strive to insure an atmosphere which will be conducive to learning for all students. Failure to show proper respect may lead to removal from class and a grade of zero for that days work.
8. Demonstrate an understanding of basic chemical concepts and their applications.
Assessment:
•Weekly quizzes and unit tests will be used to measure the students understanding of the concepts covered in class. Quizzes and tests represent 20% and 40% of the students quarter grade, respectively.
