Ninth Grade August Opening 2008
Dear Ninth Grader,
Welcome to high school. This is a great time to enjoy a fresh start as you begin exploring the wonderful learning opportunitites that Ellington High School has to offer you. Social events, theater, classroom learning projects, and sports participation and viewing -- these are just a few ways that you can become involved in your high school education. We teachers are thrilled to begin a new year with you and we will work hard to try to make your transition from middle school to high school a pleasant and successful journey. High school is amazing!
All ninth graders receive a packet of course expectations and information from their English teachers. Use the information provided within the packets to guide you. Please remember to have your parents sign the form on the last page to indicate that they have received the objectives and expectations information. Parents may keep the packet for reference. I will provide each student with a hard copy for personal use during the second week of school.
In the first few weeks, be sure to make a schedule for yourself to plan time for studying and homework assignments. Time management is very important and good habits built at the start of the year can make the whole learning experience so much easier! Learning is work, but work can be fun, especially when time is on your side! Plan ahead and make every moment count! You will have a terrific year!
