Grading Policy English I & II
All work is graded based on the student’s academic achievement as well as his/her demonstrated effort throughout the task.
Academic Achievement grades show the level of proficiency the student achieved regarding the acquisition of skills and knowledge.
Demonstrated Effort grades earned are based on the quality of work, amount of work, and other factors that demonstrate the determination of the student in completing work. Both Demonstrated Effort and Academic Achievement grades are weighted equally to produce the student’s overall grade.
Reading 40% -Comprehension tests, vocabulary work and quizzes, projects, active reading assignments, and use of a reading strategy.
Written Language- 40% Written assignments, grammar, spelling quizzes.
Class Participation and Oral Language-20% On-task behavior, brings the necessary materials to class and is ready to work when the bell rings, group discussions, and oral presentations.
