The New Berk Times

all of the news in and around Mrs. Berk's Kindergarten
November 21, 2008

Welcome to Mrs. Berk's Kindergarten at Eastbury School!

Enjoy reading about what we are learning in kindergarten and what is coming up in room 16 this fall!

Our cast of friendly turkeys, Pilgrims, and Native American Indians all thank you for attending our Thanksgiving Song Fest on  Thursday!  At least if one on the team had to get laryngitis, it was the teacher.  The children sang out and showed how well they had learned so many words and songs just since November 3!  The costume detail was excellent as well.  Thank you for coming!  Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

We will thank you in advance for contributions to our special Stone Soup project.  We will be cooking in the classroom on Monday and feasting on Tuesday.
                               ?
If possible, please have your child bring in
the following vegetable for our soup project:
_____________________________________*
* You will find the vegetable on your child's newsletter in his or her Friday Take Home Envelope on November 21.
We will enjoy reading and learning how the recipe for "Stone Soup" came to be!

Notice regarding School Notes:  There will be no regular newsletter from me next week before the Thanksgiving holiday.

"School Notes" was to continue through the school year.  However, teachers have been notified this week that School Notes will end as of December 1.  Therefore, after the Thanksgiving break, the next newsletter online you will be able to read from me will be available through the Glastonbury Public Schools website.  There will be a link to our school, or you may go to Eastbury School directly, and then the staff directory to find my newsletter. I will send more information on this with the first "hard copy" on December 5.

Day beforeThanksgiving Schedule:  On next Wednesday, November 26, the p.m. students will attend in the a.m. session as per notices in the last Eastbury School newsletter, our school calendars, and my notice to p.m. parents last week.  Please notify daycare providers if this applies.  Children will be picked up by regular school buses in your neighborhood.

Dismissal time is 11:40.  If your child is to go home any way other than their USUAL Wednesday pick up routine, a note is required. Ex: If your child usually gets picked up on Wednesday regularly at 3:40 and you wish him/her to ride the bus home, a note is required or your child will be waiting at the office. I am required to follow the dismissal routine without a note from home.  Thank you for helping with this.

Letter practice continues along the alphabet with Ee, Ff, and Gg this month!

The next week on the parent volunteer calendar will be Week 2: December 8 - 12.

"SPECIALS" 2008-09
