Reading
During the last part of the year our reading skills will focus on reading a combination of fiction and nonfiction material. Students will read The Year of the Panda and The Big Wave. Panda research is just about completed. Students used a combination of books and web sites to gather information.
Reflection on the Pillars of Character
will help to build our classroom community. Students will continuously focus on caring, respect and responsibility.
Social Studies
Students have been studying the country of China. The last part of our study will be to create aTravel Brochure to visit
this country!

Science
Sink or Float will help students have an understanding of buoyancy. Students will use the scientific process to predict and test objects.
Our last science unit is Animal Habitats. Some of the lessons will teach students about animal classifications, food chains, migration and hibernation. Of course, there will also be time for reseach! I have so many animal lovers in my class that I am certain this will be a great way to end the year!
Writing
Review of all writing strategies will continue during our daily lessons. Using these strategies will help students to write another narrative story. In June, a memory book will also be created to help us remember the great and exciting things we learned in grade 3.
Math
This term we will continue studying multiplcation facts. Students will be asked to expand basic multiplication facts. Students will also learn new algorithms to solve multiplication facts...partial products and lattice math! Remember help your child to study the basic facts.
Our next unit will review fractions. You will be surprised as students name parts of a fraction and work with mixed numbers. Also, students will solve number stories involving fractions.
