Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to my SchoolNotes Page. Its purpose is to help keep you informed about some of the lessons and activities we are doing in Room 24.
Please remember to provide a healthy snack for your child and remind them that sharing their snack is not allowed in our class this year due to food allergies. We, also, do not allow drink boxes and the like at snack time. Your child will be allowed to get plenty of water several times during the day. On extremely hot days, however, please feel free to send your child to school with water in a plastic bottle with a secure top.
As you know, we are on a six day schedule at Buckley. Please make every effort to see that your child wears the proper clothing on our C and F days for P.E. class and that all library books are returned on B days so that another book may be checked out.
Homework will be given on Mondays and is due on Thursday morning of the same week. I appreciate your help and support at home with the weekly homework, the weekly vocabulary, and the spelling words which we will begin later in the year. In addition, each child in our class will be expected to read and record at least 15 books a month as part of our independent reading program. Beginning in January, we will begin timed addition and subtraction math fact test with sums to 10. At this writing, these tests are a townwide requirement. Thanks for working as a team with me to help your child grow and love learning!
As a reminder, the first bell rings at 8:50 A.M. each day. Dismissal is at 3:25P.M. Please make every effort to see that your child arrives on time. Our special classes begin promptly at 9:10 M-F. Habitual tardiness not only disrupts the daily rountines for your child but the whole class as well. It also makes it very difficult for your child to catch up on assigned work given prior to arrival.
