Welcome to Mrs. Zaccaro's
SchoolNotes Page
Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe that we're almost half way through this school year. Here are just a few reminders of what you can do to help your child be successful in school.
HOMEWORK:
Each student in grades 4-6 has a daily homework planner. You should check their planner each night for homework and notes. This is an excellent tool to help with organization and a good way to communicate daily.
READING:
Every child should be reading nightly. The amount of time may vary, depending on the grade.
Grade 4 - children should be reading 20 minutes per night. On Monday a reading log is sent home and should be completed and returned on Friday.
Grade 5 - children should be reading 20 minutes per night. They should be writing in their reading logs each night, responding to a specific question given by their teacher.
Grade 6 - children should be reading 20-30 minutes per night. They should be keeping track of the amount of time they are reading for their independent reading goal.
MATH:
Practicing the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts is an on-going process. Automatic recall of facts is very important and helpful. The goal for students in grades 4-6 is 95% on fact tests. Please help your child achieve this goal by practicing with them.
If you have any questions please write a note in your child's planner or call me at school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Zaccaro
