Success is a journey, not a destination. The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.

Math

What is a P.A.C.E. Resource Teacher and what does Ms. Lucas do?

P.A.C.E. stands for the Program for Academic Challenge and Excellence and the mission of the program is to enhance the educational experience by facilitating learning challenges that extend and enrich the regular curriculum.  Ms. Lucas works with small groups of students, both those who need extra challenge in math and science and those who need reinforcement of important skills in math.  She also teaches whole class lessons which focus on problem solving skills and inquiry-based science.

Problem Solving Steps

1. Understand - Make sure you understand the problem.  What are you being asked to find?  What do you already know?

2.  Plan - Make a plan and pick a strategy.

3.  Solve - Use the strategy you hose to TRY to solve the problem.

4.  Check - Do the problem again; don't just say it "looks right."
