As the school year comes to an end, I'll offer a few summer activity suggestions:
Encourage reading at home for fluency and comprehension.
Review multiplication facts 1-12 for accuracy and quick recall.
Reinforce cursive letter formation and letter connections by keeping journals, writing letters , and/or sending post cards to friends and family while on vacation.
Re-write narrative writing prompts that we completed this year with the suggestd modifications, or re-write from a different point of view. Use contents of the student writing folders for reference. Remember to include an interesting beginning, 2-3 events that lead to an ending. Include descriptions for setting, main character, and/or object. Also try to include feelings, interesting words, and a couple of similes.
After reading a novel, prepare a story summary using the outline format that we practiced this year. Remember to include: setting, definition of the problem, 3 events that lead to solving the problem.
Enjoy some time to relax and have fun with your family and friends this summer. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you Moms and Dads, for all your help, support, and generosity this year. It means so much to all of us.
