April 16, 2009
The meeting was called to order by Teresa Twomey at 12:10 pm
In attendance
Board members: Teresa Twomey, Debbie Wing, Kerry Avery, and Lolly Howe; Principal Laura Stuart-Wonderlie; approximately 3 teachers and staff members; and several parents. A quorum was met.
Approval of Minutes
The March minutes were not present so they could not be approved.
Budget
No treasurer report.
Principal’s Report
Principal Laura Wonderlie discussed problems with the RAH Ice Cream Social/author event. Children at the event were disrespectful to the author. Parents were talking in the back of the gym. This shows that if parents can be disrespectful then children can also. We should keep evenings for social events only. Author talks are better during school hours. Also we should be reminding children to be aware that it is a school event and that they should act accordingly.
We will send Mrs. Desmond a card to welcome her back from her two week leave.
Set up a committee for the PRS 50th Year Celebration. Mrs. Wonderlie will head it up. We need members and we will send a flyer out soon.
New/Old Business
· Spring Carnival update- Lolly has 7 people for the dunk tank including Mrs. Wonderlie and Mrs. Acevedo. Kerry brought up the recycling toner and cell phone fundraiser. Slight amount of money raised. We will sign up for Jeanine Fundraising in the fall and sell dry food mix products so we will compy with the health and wellness policies. Also discussed the Jeopardy game fundraiser as a possible event for next year. Some other fundraising ideas were charging for the Student Directory by asking for a donation to the PRS PTO (approved by Mrs. Wonderlie; Pajama Day; Student/Teacher Talent Show; paper pads for PRS (Alfina Milluzzo to check this at Blue Wave printers); sell the 5th grade DVDE slide show; and to charge more for the 5th grade yearbooks.
· Box Tops money keeps on coming in! So far close to $2400, $858.00 coming in for last month. Also $564.00 in Geissler’s receipt money. Thank you Diane Miller and Darlene Hofmann.
· By-Law Committee to meet to revise the PRS By-laws. Discussed new members to the Board as possibly Diane Miller as one of the Tri-Presidents, Patty Albert as Secretary along with Darlene Hofmann, Jeanne Heslin with Julie Thompson as co –Treasurers.
· SCRIPS program—Jeanne Heslin said that the program will be in place for August at the start of the new school year (2010).
