Welcome to Team Heron Social Studies!
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.

**Our Heron Historians have also shown great interest in the events of the current election year!! Many are curious about the process of how we pick a president and the candidates themselves. We work in current events to our class discussions on a regular basis. Check out some of the links below for information on some key presidential candidates!
SOCIAL STUDIES AT TWO RIVERS: 7th grade Social Studies is
the first year of a two year study of American History. In grade 7, students study American History through the lens of conflict, while in grade 8 students examine American history through the lens of rights.
Trimester 1 has come to a close and students have completed their study of the 2008 Presidential Election, the Causes of the American Revolution and the Revolutionary War. Heron Historians are now examining the Constitutional Convention and the many conflicts and compromises that were faced and hammered out at this convention. Students are examining the essential questions: Who is in charge? and What is the relationship between compromise and conflict?
The Herons have already learned about the causes of the Convention, including Shay's Rebellion, and the many issues the delegates had to address at the convention: Who should be in charge - the states or the national government? Who should have say (big states vs. small states)? How do we select our leaders? They are now getting ready to take a stand as either a Federalist (supporter of the Constitution) or an Anti-Federalist (opponent of the Constitution)!
