The Clique by Lisi Harrison - This is a great book about a girl named Claire who moves to a new town with her family into an old friend's guesthouse until they can find a new home. The people who own the house have a daughter named Massie who is in a "clique." Now, as you can imagine, Massie is very wealthy and Claire, well, isn't. All of Massie's friends in the clique are also rich too. So, Claire has to work very hard to be in the clique and be accepted. Will Claire eventually be in the clique? You'll have to read the book. Jordan Niezelski (Core 5)
The Wanderer by Sharon Creech - In this book a girl named Sophie has to overcome her fear of the rolling, tumbling ocean. Sophie is a very tough girl, but when she was young something devastating happened to her that scared her with the fear of the sea forever. So now, she is going on a trip across the wide Atlantic with her three uncles and two cousins to England to visit Bompie, the kids' grandfather. The chapters take turns between Sophie and Cody's journals as they both endure the struggles of sailing and growing up. I recommend this book because it is written in such a way that I just couldn't put it down. I love how Sharon Creech wrote the story from two different angles. It is like getting two different thoughts about the same thing. Jacinta Lomba (Core 1)
The Fallen by Paul Langan The Fallen is about a boy named Martin who lives in the Bronx. The main problem in the story is that Martin tries to get revenge on the guys that killed his brother. The reason that I’m recommending this book it can show people not to let your anger and your emotions get the best of you. Sam Brooks (Core 1)
Brothers In Arms by Paul Langan: If you like suspense, drama and real life problems, then read this outstanding Bluford book. Martin Luna has lost his beloved brother to a horrific accident. Now Marin wants revenge on the person. Through difficult choices Martin eventually learns that violence doesn't solve anything. I can imagine how I would feel if I sent my brother away from me and then he was gone forever. Ali Hamadi (Core 1)
Chicken Soup For A Girl's Soul: This book gives girls advice on what to do in difficult situations. For example, if you have a bully at school, the book gives you advice on how to handle the situation. If you have a crush on a boy there are tips on what girls should and should not do. I love all the stories so far. Jocelyn Worthington (Core 1)
