Welcome to 4S!!! We have an exciting year ahead of us!!I am looking forward to getting started. We are lucky to have with us Ms. Pemberton as our student teacher for our first ten weeks of school. Fourth grade is a big transitional year for students so please work with your children to ease their anxieties and to complete work.

Here is a brief overview of what is coming in these first few weeks.
Global Studies:
We begin the year with a mapping unit that is closely tied to our science unit and media project of ecosystems, biomes and habitats. They will learn regions of the earth, longitude and longitude, and other maping skills.
Science
We will be starting with ecosystems and how organisms are interdependent. We start with a field trip to our pond, so watch for dates. We are also very excited to be continuing our Trout in the Classroom Project this year to help our environment. We raise trout from eggs to eventually release them back into local CT rivers!
Reading and Language Arts
We will be reviewing comprehension strategies with read alouds and sharing thoughts and feelings. Our first author study is a Roald Dahl unit.
Mathematics
We begin our school year with a graphing unit.
We are in need of healthy classroom snacks. Anybody who can be generous to send some in would be greatly appreciated.
