Dear parents and students -

We have a few assignments over the next few days.

1. Students have been working on their research papers. They need to turn in their rough drafts with peer revisions added on May 8th. Once we have the papers, Mrs. Burgess and I will make corrections and return them. We will then give about a week to make the corrections. At this point, the dates from the initial assinnments are obsolete.

2. We have a test Tuesday May 12th on ch 21. Students were given review sheets yesterday in class and were assigned the first two sections last night as homework. We are reviewing those sections today in class. For tomorrow, students are doing the next two sections. (Students will have some time in class because the papers with corrections are due tomorrow).

We needed to revise the dates for the research project because of the science trip and Earth Day. The dates are below. If you have any questions, please ask.

April 20, 22 and 24                  Outlines returned (on 20^th) – work on rough drafts for 30 min each class

April 27 (Monday)                    Typed rough draft due at start of class

April 28 (Tuesday)                   Peer editing day– draft returned for corrections

May 1 (Friday)                          Rough drafts with peer corrections due

May 8                                       Rough drafts with teacher corrections returned

May 15                        Final Draft Due – Must include rough drafts with peer and teacher corrections. 

Parents - just so you know, I postponed the due date for the board game. We had a few things to take care of in class and were not able to work on the project in class like I had planned.  I told the students it would be due on Tuesday in class.

We have a few projects going on in the 8th grade at this time.

#1 -  We have a research paper that we started this past Tuesday. I've attached a letter with the timeline and directions. All students are to have the acknowledgment letter signed by Friday. If you have not seen the letter, please sign a copy and send into school.

#2 - As an assessment for chapters 18 and 20, students are making a board game with a partner that covers both chapters.
