Week of June 2
Final week to prepare for exams. Bring your study sheets to class!
Week of May 26
Reflection essay - write a 4-paragraph essay about your freshman year. Due Friday, May 30.
Week of May 19
Monday and Tuesday continue to be work days. Bring your assignments and be prepared to work!
On Wednesday we will go over the practice test from Fri, May 16. This will be your study guide for the Study Skills portion of your English final exam.
Week of May 12
Monday and Tuesday continue to be work days. Bring your assignments and be prepared to work!
Chunk essay - "Best Class" - is due by the end of class on Wednesday, May 14. It will count as a test grade.
On Friday, May 16 we will take a practice test for the Study Skills portion of your English final exam.
Week of May 5
On Wednesday we will review fragments and run-ons. There will be a test on fragments and run-ons on Friday! If you are making corrections to your fragments and run-ons quiz, the corrections must be submitted by Friday.
Week of April 28
Monday and Tuesday continue to be work days. Bring your assignments and be prepared to work!
Week of April 21
We will work on poems and posters for the Earth Day contests. All poems and posters are due by Friday April 25.
Week of April 14
Sentences/Run-ons/Fragments packet is a QUIZ grade. It must be completed in class and handed in no later than Friday, April 18.
Week of April 7
Make sure you have turned in your Sentences grammar packet!
If you still owe me Black History Month essay or How I Have Changed essay, I will take them any time before the end of class on Tuesday, April 8. They CANNOT be accepted at all after that time.
Week of March 31
Monday and Tuesday - Finish and hand in your Black History Month essay and How I Have Changed essay. Both completed essays should be submitted no later than Friday, April 4.
Begin working on the Sentences grammar packet.
Week of March 17
We will coordinate and finish prepositions packets in class on Monday and Tuesday.
When we return from break, you will be given time in class on Monday and Tuesday to finish up your Black History Month essay and How I Have Changed essay. Both completed essays should be submitted by Friday, April 7.

Week of March 10
Monday, March 10 - Black History Month essay quiz! Write your essay following the instructions that were given to you in class. The person you should use for the topic of your essay is the person you researched for your PPT project.
Friday, March 14 is a WORK SESSION! Bring your assignments from any class, and be prepared to work!
Week of March 3
We will work together this week on course selection. The freshman course selection meeting will be during our Tuesday class...report to the cafeteria instead of room 207.
We will talk about course recommendations in class on Wednesday and will register online for courses on Friday.
Begin working on your "How I Have Changed" essay following the guidelines given to you in class. You should email your essay to me by the end of class on Wednesday, March 5.
Week of February 25
All 3 grammar packets are due in class on Monday, February 25. I will collect them from you and keep them so they do not get lost!
You will have work sessions in class on Wednesday, February 27 and Friday, February 29. BRING THE WORK YOU HAVE TO DO!
Weeks of February 11 and 18
We will present Black History Month Power Point projects in class each day during these weeks.
There are THREE grammar packets in progress: Conjunctions & Interjections, Prepositions 1, Prepositions 2. These should all be kept in your 8-pocket folder.
Week of February 4
Work on Black History Month Power Point projects. You should use your notes to create your slides, according to the instructions that I emailed to you. Presentations will begin on Wednesday, Feb 6. You must email your presentation to me no later than the start of class on Feb 6.
Week of January 28
Work on Black History Month project notes. You must email your notes to me no later than Jan. 30.

Continue to work on your "chunk" writing practice. Your worksheet and typed document are due by the end of class on Monday, Dec. 3.
Chunk writing assignment about your favorite movie is due by the end of class on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Learning Style Inventory - complete the assignment that was emailed to you, and hand in your response by Thursday, November 29.

Grammar Art Description projects are due on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Week of November 5
Work on your Adjectives and Adverbs packet. It should be brought to class on Monday, November 12.
No school for students on Tuesday, Nov 6 and Friday, Nov 9.
Week of October 29
Final due date for the Halloween project is Monday, October 29. You must submit all three parts. They will receive a test grade, which will be calculated as follows:
Notes - 25%
Planning chart - 25%
Essay - 50%
Noun and Verb test FRIDAY!

Halloween project continues! There will be three parts to this assignment:
- Research and note-taking - Work on finding your four websites and taking notes using the guidelines I emailed to you and distributed in class. Your notes are due at the start of class Monday 10/22.
- Planning an essay - We will use a planning chart to draft a 4-paragraph essay.
- Writing an essay - We will write and revise our essays in class on Monday 10/22 and Tuesday 10/23.
Your entire project is due Friday 10/26.
Week of October 15
Halloween research begins! There will be three parts to this assignment:
- Research and note-taking - Work on finding your four websites and taking notes using the guidelines I emailed to you and distributed in class. Your notes are due at the start of class Monday 10/22.
- Planning an essay
- Writing an essay
Week of October 8
Open the verb chart I sent you by email and save it to your Study Skills folder. Be prepared to work on the chart in class on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
I will be out on Friday Oct 12 chaperoning the junior/senior trip to Boston. You may have a QUIET study period. Bring assignments that you will work on!
All grammar work is due no later than Monday, October 15. This includes the noun and pronoun packet and chart AND verb packet and chart!
Week of October 1
Make sure you open the attachment (nouns and pronouns chart) I sent to you by email and save it to your Study Skills folder. You will need your nouns and pronouns packet again in class on Tuesday in order to work on the chart.
On Wednesday you will complete your nouns and pronouns chart and begin a Verbs packet. The Verbs packet must remain in your 8-pocket folder, along with the Nouns and Pronouns packet. We will work with them next week as well. Do not lose or discard your packets!
There are no classes for freshmen on Friday, October 5. You will have Freshman Field Day all day and an early dismissal at 11:41 AM. Enjoy!
Week of September 24
We will finish hearing all speeches and will begin working with Microsoft Word to write paragraphs.
Be sure you have your Nouns and Pronouns packet for class on Friday, September 28.
Week of September 17
Write a speech about you, which you will present to the class this week. Remember the categories to include: family, friends, likes/dislikes, education, experiences.
I will be out of class on Wednesday, Sept 19 accompanying the Peer Ministers on a training day. You will work in class on a Nouns and Pronouns Grammar packet. Please keep your packet in your 8-pocket folder.
Week of September 10
We will be writing paragraphs to demonstrate writing skills.
