Week of June 1
Final Exam Review Sheet is attached below. You will have class time on Wednesday and Friday to complete the sheet, and we will begin to review it together on Monday, June 8.
You will be permitted to use your review sheet for the last 15 minutes of the final exam. You will receive up to 10 bonus points on your final exam if you bring your completed, correct review sheet to the exam with you.
Week of May 25
Finalize your Taming of the Shrew essay. It is due by the end of class on Friday, May 29.
I will accept Act IV and V reviews until Friday, May 29.
Week of May 18
We will complete Act IV and Act V. Act IV & V Review Questions are posted below. Completed review sheets are due by start of class on Tuesday and will count as a QUIZ grade.
** The Act V Review Sheet includes a 3-paragraph essay response. The essay draft is due on Wednesday, May 20, and we will revise and finalize essays on Tues, May 26.

We will complete Act III and begin Act IV. Act III Review Questions are posted below. Completed review sheet is due by start of class on Tuesday.

The Shakespeare Sonnets assignment is due by the end of class on Monday. If you did not complete the assignment, make sure you have it for class on Tuesday. Remember, the sonnets and questions were emailed to you on Friday, April 3.
We will read aloud The Taming of the Shrew in class on Monday & Tuesday.
Wednesday - Arbor Day ceremony
The Taming of the Shrew Act I Review questions will be done in class on Friday. They are attached below. Save your work in your English folder. Do not print yet.

Your Picture Poem is due by Tuesday, March 24 and Soldier Poem is due by Wednesday, March 25.
We will compile our Poetry Collections and prepare our Pocket Poems on Friday, March 27. The Poetry Collection is a TEST grade!

We will begin to read Love That Dog. We will read the entire book aloud in class and keep an ongoing journal in response to what we read. Keep your book in the classroom!

Week of February 9
Continue to work on the SAT Vocab PPT presentation, if yours is not yet complete. You must be ready to present by Wednesday, Feb 11. We will see presentations on Wednesday and Friday this week. This presentation counts as a test grade.
Week of February 2
In RED SAT book, do Practice Sets 1, 2, 3 on pgs. 26, 31, 35. Write your answers in the book. Then look over the Answers and Explanations and make note of the explanations that do not make sense to you. DUE Tuesday, Feb 3.
If you did not already do so, read "Hip Hop as Culture" on pgs. 134-143 in the Edge textbook, and write a two-paragraph response to the "Return to the Text" question on p. 143. The last day to hand this in is Tues, Feb 3.
Work on the SAT Vocab PPT presentation, which is due Monday, Feb 9.

Read "Hip Hop as Culture" on pgs. 134-143 in the Edge textbook, and write a two-paragraph response to the "Return to the Text" question on p. 143.

MIDTERM - Wednesday, January 21 at 8:00 AM in Room 107! Bring your review sheet with you in order to receive 10 points on your exam. You will also be able to use your review sheet for the last 15 minutes of the exam session. STUDY!

No new vocab until after exams!
Read Ch 17-19 in Bad Boy and be prepared for a quiz on Friday Jan 9. You will have time in class on Tuesday and Wednesday to work on the practice quiz questions (attached below), and we will review the answers to the questions in class on Wednesday. 10 of quiz questions will come from the practice sheet. There will be 5 new questions on the quiz as well.
The final chapter of your memoir will be due on Friday Jan 9. You will have class time on Wednesday and Friday to work on your final chapter, Ch 4: I am not the Center of the Universe. The worksheet for Ch 4 of your memoir is attached below.
Week of December 15
Ch 3 of memoir - worksheet and essay - should have been handed in on Monday, 12/15. If you still owe me yours, you should hand it in before the Christmas break. It will receive reduced credit.

YES...there are 2 quizzes planned for Wednesday, December 17. As we discussed, if you need more time to complete your quizzes, you will be given time on Friday, Dec 19 during class. You DO NOT have to study ahead of time for the Bad Boy quiz...if you work during the given time on the reading and the pre-quiz, and you come prepared with your pre-quiz and your Bad Boy book on Wednesday, you will be well-prepared for success on the Bad Boy quiz. You DO need to study your vocab words for Wednesday's quiz.

Complete the worksheet for Ch 3 of your memoir, "__________ Days at Union Catholic!" and type your essay. Your essay should follow the format we discussed:
Opening: Write 2-3 sentences explaining why you chose the word you did in the title, “_____________________________ Days at Union Catholic!”
Paragraph 1: Discuss your transition from grammar school to high school. Tell about the good points and the bad points about your freshman year.
Paragraph 2: Tell about your sophomore year, the best and worst parts so far. Tell about a typical day in your life right now. What’s it like to be you?
Paragraph 3: Discuss your expectations being an upperclassman; tell what things worry you, and what things you are looking forward to doing.
Closing: Write 2-3 sentences with your closing thoughts about high school so far.

Bad Boy Ch 10-11 QUIZ is on Monday Dec 1. 7 of the 9 quiz questions will come from the "pre-quiz" practice sheet. There will be 3 new questions on the quiz as well and one bonus question. Remember questions 5 & 9 will DEFINITELY be on the quiz, so prepare your answers well!

There is no vocab quiz this week, since we did not begin a new unit last week. We will begin Lesson 3D this Friday, Nov 14.
You should have begun writing chapter two of your memoir, which is called "Let's Hear it for School!" Remember to choose two of your school memories to include in your essay. Follow the format we discussed: Opening Paragraph

Begin reading Bad Boy by Walter Dean Myers - Read chapter 1 (Roots) and chapter 2 (Harlem). Be prepared to discuss these two chapters in class on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Conduct the assigned interview with a member of your family. You must bring the answers to your interview questions with you to class on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Another copy of the interview questions is attached below.
