Due Nov. 2, 2009:

Extra Credit assignment to replace your lowest quiz grade.  Do a one page essay with at least one citation (in MLA format) on one of the following critiques of the New Deal:

  • Huey Long
  • Father Charles Coughlin
  • Francis Townsend

Due Monday, Nov. 9: 

Read Chap. 24, Section 2 and do worksheet for Section 2.

Key terms for Chap. 8 due today. Also - read chap. 8 in American Paegent.

Due Monday, Nov. 9: 

Essay for Chap. 7-8 due today.    Answer one of the following questions:

1. List the following in order of their importance to colonial protest: pamphlets, boycotts, mob action, committees of correspondence. Justify your ranking. 

2.  Explain the following quote.  "Insurrection  of thought usually precedes insurrection of deed."  What does this mean?  In what ways is this generalization an accurate description of the coming of the American revolution? 

3.  List the three most important battles of the revolutionary war and justify your selections. 

4.  Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner.  Why, then, did he state in the Declaration of Independence that "all men are created equal"?

World Studies Acclerated

Due Thurs. Oct. 29: 

Topic for sports project, including how you will do the class demo.

Due Weds., Nov. 4: 

Test on Chap. 5 - Sections 1 and 2.  Take home essay also due today.  Essay should be one or two paragraphs.  Select one of the following:  Compare and contrast the government in Sparta and Athens or explain the focus of education and the value system in Sparta.

Due Thurs., Nov. 5: 

Assignment re: guest lecture is due.  Make sure you hand in the notes you took during the lecture and answer the questions about the lecture in bullet form.  This is a quiz grade for Chap. 2.

Due Mon., Nov. 9: 

Sports Project due today.  See details on handout.  Today in class, each student will present a 2 minute presentation identifying a "snapple bottle top" fact about your talent or sport and a brief demonstration.

World Studies Honors

Due Friday, Oct. 30: 

Topic for Sports Project, including how you will do the class demonstration.

Due Weds. Nov. 4:  

Test on Chap. 5, Sections 1-2.  Take home essay for Chapter 5 also due today.  Essays should be one or two paragraphs.  Select one of the following:  Compare and contrast the government in Sparta and Athens or Explain the focus of education and the value system in Sparta.

Due Mon., Nov. 9: 

Sports project is due today.  See details on handout and rubric.  Each student should prepared to present a 2 minute demonstration of the sport or talent and to identify 1 or 2 snapple facts about the talent or sport. 

 *** Also due today is the assignment on the guest lecture. Make sure to hand in your notes and answer the questions about the lecture in bullet form.
