Welcome back!! We hope you had a wonderful holiday break! We hope everyone's wishes were wrapped and delivered. Now, it's time to get back to work.
Please practice math facts everyday to improve speed and accuracy. We will begin our "Mad Math Minute" quizzes late January. They will be timed!! We have completed our chapter on subtraction strategies.
We have begun our third unit in reading. It is very important that you continue to practice and review new and old sight words to insure mastery. It is hard for the children to build fluency without knowing the sight words. Encourage your child to "tap" out sounds when decoding new words. When reading together, ask them about the characters, setting, problem, and solution. Have them retell the story in sequential order.
In math, we have begun chapter five which teaches many strategies that can be used for addition. Practice counting on from the bigger number.
The gift sale will be December 18 and 19. We look forward to our trip to the Long Island Children's Museum in January and to starting PARP.
Thank you for all your hard work and support. We wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday season!!!
