Welcome to Mrs. Bernstein's 5th Grade Band Web Page
Congratulation to all the 5th Grade Band members and their parents. The children performed beautifully on Thursday, May 28. I am very proud of their accomplishments and very excited for next year.
Few end of the year reminders.
There are two more weeks of Period 9 band and lessons left. The students need to make it to two lessons. If they cannot make it to their scheduled lesson the students have to come to me and ask for a make up lesson.
Monday, June 1 the students need their instruments. They are performing a brief portion of their concert for the incoming Parkway Elementary 5th Graders at 9:45am. The students are to arrive in the band room at 9:30am, go to the LGI and get set up. Once Parkway gets here, the students will perform and then go back to class. (the teachers and administrators are all on board for this performance)
The students do not have to dress up for this informal presentation. Regular school clothes are just fine.
All school owned instruments, French horns, Trombones, Baritone horns need to be returned no later than June 10th. If you want your child to have an instrument for the summer still return the one you have at home to me, and let me know that you want one for the summer. I will get one cleaned and prepared for you for the summer. This will not be an additional charge; this is included in your one school year fee of $50. Next September you'll pay the fee again.
If you rent an instrument it is a good idea to return it after June 12 so it can get cleaned, tuned, fixed. Even if you want your child to have the same instrument or you own the instrument it is a good idea every summer to get the instrument serviced once a year. This will keep down the amount of times the instrument needs to be repaired during the school year. Yes, the students will have music to practice over the summer. (do I expect that they will all practice, no, but I can dream it will happen)
Last day of period 9 Band and Lessons is Friday June 12. Period 9 that day is a make your own ice cream and ice pop party, with a friendly game of kickball afterwards. All practice logs are due on this day. Students that have their practice log filled out on June 12 will be served first; students without a log will be served last.
