Conjugating verbs in French:

1.  Conjugate:  to match the subject with the correct
form of the verb

2.  Les Sujets- Subjects:

    je- I                         
    tu- you (singular, informal)        
il- he                        
elle- she        
nous- we
vous- you (plural, formal)
ils- they (masculine)
elles- they (feminine)            

3.  Infinitive: the original form of the verb
    Examples:      chanter- to sing
                danser- to dance
                écouter- to listen

4. To conjugate, take off the ending "er", so only the
  stem of the verb is left.
        Example:  "chanter" becomes "chant-"

     Second, write whichever subject is being
        discussed.
        Example:  je chant-

      Third, each subject has an ending that matches
        it. Add the ending that matches the subject.
    
            Example:  je chante

    (For verbs that end in "er", the ending that goes
        with "je" is "e")

5.  Endings for verbs that end in "er":
        je- e        nous- ons
        tu- es        vous- ez
        il- e            ils- ent
        elle- e        elles- ent

6.  Put it all together to conjugate a verb completely:
    je chante- I sing
    tu chantes- you sing (singular, informal)
    il chante- he sings
    elle chante- she sings
    nous chantons- we sing
    vous chantez- you sing (plural, formal)
    ils chantent- they sing (masculine)
    elles chantent- they sing (feminine)
