Welcome back and Happy New Year! Everyone seemed to appreciate the extra long Christmas Holiday this year.
SPELLING/READING: Our new story is called, A TRIP TO THE FIREHOUSE. We have 15 new spelling words. The 15 sentences won't be due until this Wednesday. As always, use a variety of endings. I'll hand out the vocabulary words tomorrow.
Finish AR Quizzes and December Book-Its.
You can start the January Book-Its now. The goal will be 4 books.
During the second semester, please try to always have a chapter book each day.
MATH: Today we started Chapter 6. The skills in this chapter include: 2 -digit subtraction with and without regrouping,checking subtraction by adding, and estimating differences.
Continue to work in First in Math. I gave each student a goal to have completed by next week.
Also, review the basic subtraction facts from 0 -20. This will help with our current chapter.
In the DHP, complete pages 50 -53 this week.
SCIENCE: Both homerooms will be taking home the test home on Solids, Liquids, and Gases this week.
HR 314 - Please sign and return the test.
Our next unit of study is on WEATHER. Look for info. to follow.
RELIGION: Chapter 14 Test is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8. Review the Faith Words, page 150, and try to take the practice test on-line. Tomorrow, we'll have a practice quiz in class. This will not be graded.
HANDWRITING: Today we started cursive writing! Everyone was very excited. Your child should practice the letters and words that they learned today in class.
Please return their practice paper tomorrow. This DOES count as a homework assignment.
