Grade 3
At the beginning of each class students will spend several minutes practicing their typing skills. They will use a program called Ultra Key.
Students are reviewing the tools on the Formatting Tool Bar in Microsoft Word, learning how to insert text into existing text, how to work with graphics and how to select text with the mouse.
Students will practice how to Cut/Copy/Paste.
Students will be shown how to access Mrs. Galvin's Homework site. The Citation Builder Web Site is listed there.
Internet use will begin with directions for a correct search using Google.Students will begin using the Citation Builder Web Site to gather correct information for a bibliography.
Grade 4
The Fourth Grade is busy with keyboard practice and reviewing skills in Microsoft Word.They will begin to search on the Internet the week of March 16th.
Grade 5
Students are creating a Travel Brochure for a visit to Latin America. Each student will type their own information in Microsoft Word. We will then use copy/paste to combine articles, as a team, into Microsoft Publisher.
Homework - Some preparation should be done at home to research information for student articles.
Grade 6
Students will be working in the Microsoft Excel Application for the next several weeks practicing with formulas, functions and graphing.
Homework due on Friday, March 20th - Choose a topic for a survey. Ask at least 10 people to respond to your survey question. Create a spreadsheet of your responses. Also, practice Free Typing
Topic is "Choir Practice", Paragraphs 1 and 2.
Grade 7
Students are working in Microsoft Word, using the Format and Standard Tools. They are also practicing how to create Hot Spots with the hyperlinking tool, use a split screen and are practicing with Tables.All tecniques will be used to publish a newsletter, reflecting on the presidency of one of the counties 44 presidents.
Grade 8
The eighth grade is researching former presidents. After research is complete they will work in Microsoft Publisher to create a newsletter about their chosen president.
