*These rules are in addition to all policies outlined in the Saint Joseph School Student-Parent Handbook.

1.    The Saint Joseph School Gym uniform is required to participate in physical education class (refer to handbook for specifics).  An unacceptable uniform is one that is not in original condition (torn, marked or written on, etc.) and must be replaced.

2.    Jewelry is not to be worn.  Newly pierced ears must be taped.

3.    Non-marking athletic shoes that tie or Velcro are required.
Please be advised that zippered, slip-on, backless, or wheeled athletic shoes will not be permitted in physical education class.  Shoes must be laced and visibly tied. "Skater lacing" is not permitted for safety reasons.

4.    A written note from a parent may excuse a child from a single physical education class.  If the student is to be excused for more than a single class, a doctor’s note is required.  The note should include the student’s limitations and the length of time the student is to be excused.

5.    Equipment is to be used only with permission and only for it’s intended use.  For example:  basketballs are not to be kicked and rims are not to be hung on.

6.    Students must get the teacher’s permission to leave the gym for any reason (including getting a drink, using the restroom, or going to the nurse’s office).

8.    Students are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times.  This includes being honest, supportive, cooperative, respecting yourself and your classmates, and never using profanity or vulgar language.
