I do not know if any of you will remember me, but I was an English/Drama teacher in T-7 at Gwynn Park High School many years ago. I had the pleasure of working with the students of Gwynn Park and I must tell you that I was forever changed because of the experience.
I have been in education for 13 years now. I moved to Canada and started teaching in a Canadian High School. Before long, I was asked to help start a brand new high school. What an adventure!
This new school was perfect for the continuation of my WRITE club. This is a club where students could come to my classroom during lunch to write about the things that were going on in their lives. Every day I ran the club, I thought about my original WRITErs. All of you...
Right now I am a literacy consultant, University instructor and author. I speak to teachers about the importance of making their classrooms meaningful and genuine in the eyes of the students they teach.
I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to the students who came to my Pacesetter class every day, thank you to my drama students for always giving me their best effort during 8th period and thank you to the WRITE club for their creativity and determination. You really made a difference to me back then and I will never forget it.
I hope each of you are well.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ferguson
