10/8 & 10/9: Complete your expository writing. Note stylistic elements. Please note essay revision schedule. No essay will be accepted without the previous drafts. Get grade sheets signed.

10/6 & 10/7: Complete your descriptive and narrative writing. Remember to apply the stylistic elements of each, detailed in the classnotes.
9/25 & 9/26: Write rough draft of Declaration of Independence. Due next class. Final essay due date for B-Day students is 10/2 (Thursday). Essay due date for A-Day students is 10/3 (Friday).
9/23 & 9/24: No Homework for B-Day students. A-Day students see 9/22 homework.
9/19 & 9/22: Refer to "Prescription for Learning" homework handout. You'll need your LNET to complete the exercises.
9/17 & 9/18: Take notes on pages 16-23 from the grammar LNET book. These notes may be used for an open-note quiz the following class.
9/15 & 9/16: Take notes on pages 4-12 from the grammar LNET book. These notes may be used for an open-note quiz the following class.
9/11 & 9/12: No Homework.
9/9 & 9/10: Complete the TONE Chart to determine Momaday's attitude toward the land. Does her attitude toward the land support or negate her attitude toward her grandmother?
9/5 & 9/8: Read the excerpt "Rainy Mountain" and complete the ONE PAGER. Your text selection should focus on imagery.
9/3 & 9/4: No homework. Enjoy!
8/29 & 9/2: Read the short selection "Omelas" and complete a response journal. Note the handout "The Journal Book" for more information about freewriting your ideas.
8/27 & 8/28:
Read the short story "The Lottery" using the INSERT annotation strategy.

ANNOUNCEMENTS (9/25/08) Students will take a mini-assessment (10 questions, multiple choice) on 10/6 (B-Day students) and 10/7 (A-Day students). Students should study and review the following notes: parts of speech, participials, connotation, denotation, imagery (sensory language), tone, irony.
(9/25/08) Picture Day! (A Day: 10/1; B-Day: 10/2)
(9/15/08) All grade summary reports have been given to students. Electronic emails have been sent.
(9-10-08) BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT is September 11th at 6:30PM.
(8-27-08) The summer reading assignment is due upon returning to school. If you are new to Arundel High School and are listed on the New Registrants List generated by the Arundel Guidance Department, you will be provided a grace period. Grade period assignments are due September 4-5. No homework credit will be provided after those dates. The school web site has posted the assignment for your convenience.
