Students will rotate every 2 weeks between PE and Drivers ED...
All students MUST wear Nansemond River PE uniform for PE class Starrting Nov 10!!!) or you will lose 9 points off your PE grade. Uniforms can be bought for $15.00 (s-xl) $17.00 for 2x and $18.00 for 3x. Anything else will not be allowed to be worn and students MUST spend the class period in In-School-Suspension (ABC) if not dressed out for PE. Also, students MUST fully participate in PE to get full credit. Students refusing to participate after dressing out for PE will be sent to an Adminstrator and/or In-School Suspension.
In Drivers Ed (classroom) students must bring their notebook (and pen/pencil) to every class. They are required to take book and class notes. Books are only used in classroom but students can sign a book out of library and go to www.glencoeonline.com for online book. Students will have their notebooks checked every 2 weeks in Drivers Ed. They must also turn in a written summary on a article pertaining to driving from a newspaper, magazine, internet etc. They must turn in the article as well as the written summary.This is every second wek in Driver's ED. They will also be TESTED (from book and class info) EVERY second week in Driver's ED!

BASKETBALL NEWS:
The NRHS varsity team finished the season with a 16-7 record this past season. We saw our record 7 straight District Championships streak stopped and for first time in school history we lost in the first round of the District Tournament! It was still a good year as the 16 wins was the 7th highest in the 40 team region. Junior DION BIVENS was named second team All-SED,and first team All-City. Seniors DAVIS LONG and SHAKOR SOMMERS were named Honorable Mention All-SED and 2nd Team All-City. Junior DONTRELL SILVER was named Honorable Mention All-SED and 2nd Team All-City. Senior DERRICK WHITE was given the COACHES AWARD as the team's most detacated performer and SHAKOR SOMMERS was named the teams' Most Improved Player.
Our JV team went 9-11 as the stedily improved during the season. The JV team started the season with only 3 JV retunees from last season and 12 new players.
The basketball program is currently getting ready for the 'offseason' leagues with Junior Future League (6-8th graders) and Future League (8-9th graders) to play in May. Summer League (10&11th grade) will begin play in June but are currently lifting and doing skill work on Wednesdays and Thuradsy 2:30-5:00.
5th Annual YOUNGSTARZ BASKETBALL CAMP will be held June 22-25, 2009 at NRHS for kids entering grades 3rd-8th. Cost is 100 dollars. Email Coach Young at edwyoung@spsk12.net or call the school for more info. For those reading this, space is limted so register early!!! Special fee if you call Coach Young and tell him you saw this AD on school notes!
