WMMS IS A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN.

This year, I will be the coordinating teacher in the ICR/LA classes for both Mr. Stephenson and Ms. Hooker.  I will also be the lead teacher in an 8th grade Literacy Class which will be include reading, writing and grammar.
Both Mr. Stephenson and Ms. Hooker have their own web pages. Please check their web sites for accurate updated information.

CORE 1: In Class Resouce LA/Ms. Hooker

        Focus:  Vocabulary
                Short Story (Elements)

This year, as a PLC school, all Language Arts classes will be following a similar curriculum.  There will be vertical as well as horizontal alignment.

CORE 3: Literacy Integration

During Literacy Integration this year, we will focus on grammar, writing and reading skills.  Thus far this year, the students have reviewed common nouns, proper nouns and verbs. Almost every day, they will be asked to write a journal entry addressing a particular prompt. The lessons for the next two weeks are as follows:

We have begun a unit on Poetry.  The students will be exposed to the basic literacy elements often used in Poetry.  The will learn the structure of writing Haikus, Cinquains, Diamantes, Limericks and Concrete Poems.  At the end of the unit, the students will have a poetry project to complete. The date at this time is undetermined.

4/10/08: Work on Project in Class
4/11/08: Work on Project in Class -Due 4/14/08
4/14/08: Poetry Project Due by end of class

4/16/08: " Thank You, M'am"
4/17/08: Begin Personal Narrative
4/18/08: Continue Personal Narrative
4/21/08: Continue Personal Narrative
4/22/08: Personal Narrative Due  

        
Please be mindful that these daily lessons may take longer than I anticipate.  This is just a rough outline of the next few weeks.  I will make modifications to the plans as needed.

** Remember that WMMS is a PBS school.  All students are expected to follow the rules concerning dress codes and behavior.
