Week of September 8
Rotate into PE
1st quarter rotation schedule has been posted on the WMMS Web site.
Don't dress on Monday (rules & regulations day)
Begin dressing out on Tuesday!
Uniforms are being filled as the orders come in. We are out of small and medium gray shirts. Hoping they will be in mid-week.Even if a uniform is not in, students are still REQUIRED TO DRESS OUT until the uniform order is filled (dress code length athletic shorts and a t-shirt).
Students are to leave valuables at home or in their team locker. Students may bring a lock for PE, but MUST REMOVE IT AT THE END OF EACH CLASS PERIOD.

Week of September 15
We will continue in PE this week. The children did a nice job on the Pacer..a fitness component to measure cardiorespiratory endurance. A few students are still not dressing out for PE. Remember, PE Uniforms are mandatory. If there is a special circumstance, please contact me. "Mandatory uniforms" has been announced in class since day 1, and the message has been included in the Wildcat Weekly.
Remember, even if the uniform is in the wash (and I need to be informed of this on that day), children still need to be dressed out in dress code length athletic shorts and a t-shirt. I have discussed this in detail with each of my classes.

Open House
A BIG thanks to all who came out in the rain. It was a pleasure to meet (or see again) all of you and to put a face to a name. It has been a great start to a great year!

Week of September 22

As we finish out first rotation in PE, I must first congratulate all of the children who are dressing out and participating on a regular basis. For the most part, children are dong just about everything right and seem to be having fun. I am concerned about the few who are choosing not to dress out and/or participate.

We will be heading back into Health September 22. The kids will take pictures through Healthful Living Friday, Sept. 26 (money will go to their homeroom teacher).Interims will also be distributed later this week. Don't forget about early release Thursday, Sept 25.

October 8

We have been playing soccer in PE. The kids are doing a good job and playing well.

I am concerned with the number of zeros from Health. Work is done in class so there should be no reason for missing work...yet there is.

October 20
We have finished our rotation in PE and have transitioned back into health. We spent a week on soccer and then combined into group activities and fitness testing. Out of the 3 grade levels, 7th and 6th grades gave the best effort on the fitness testing (shuttle run). So far, we have completed the pacer (endurance), mile run (endurance), and the shuttle run (agility).

Our health unit over the next two weeks is decision making. The children will have a matching vocabulary quiz Friday, October 24 and a test Friday, October 31.

Today I sent home an updated interim and have updated the grades on SAM as well. I will accept any late work. Please attach the missing work to the signed interim and return. I cannot grade what I do not have.

As grades are posted on SAM, please remember we have not been in PE yet this quarter and that the average displayed is not an accurate measure of your child's overall average. Please use this first posting of grades to look at performance on individual assignments.

Early Release: Thursday, March 5

March 12:
From the Healthful Living Department

Starting Friday, March 13, your child’s Physical Education class will be participating in a gymnastics unit. Because of the amount and type of equipment involved, strict safety guidelines will be enforced.

1.    No horseplay will be tolerated.
2.    Students are not to enter the Gymnasium without first being instructed to enter by a teacher.
3.    Students are not to touch any equipment without first being instructed to do so.
4.    Students are to use caution in practicing new skills.
5.    Students are not to attempt any skills in which they have not had instruction.
6.    Students should not work out alone. A spotter should always be present.
7.    Spotting is an important responsibility and should not be taken lightly.
8.    Students are to be sure mats are both under and around the equipment they are using.

For safety reasons, failure to dress out in appropriate athletic apparel will result in your child being unable to participate for that day and a loss of points, both for participation and for dressing out.
