Atwell's Awesome Crew We are off to a great start in October. Starting with this week we will begin our Book in the Bags. These bags should come home with your child every Monday and Wednesday along with their homework. You will need to read these with your child until they can point to the words and read them to you sucessfully. Your child will need to bring the book back the following day and Mrs. Aldridge will listen to them read. If your child is successful they will receive a different book on the next Book in the Bag Day. If your child is having trouble they will bring the same book back home to work on some more. These books will start off easy and become progressively harder. If your child brings home a picture book you and your child can make up the story using the pictures as clues. Be sure your child gets in the habit of touching the word as you or they read it. This is very important in their learning of reading. We will finish reviewing the letters U-Z and focus on the letter s for this week. I will be contacting those of you who signed up to cook for our class very soon. This is the order that we will focus on the letters when we are studying them. (s, m, r, t, b, n, h, v,c) In Math we will keep working with number formation of 0-5 and practicing one to one correspondence with these numbers. Children will also work with sorting objects and classifying them. Fire Safety and Columbus Day will be the two main topics in Social Studies. In Science we will continue working with our Farm Unit while incorporating the season of Fall and Pumpkins.
