If you are in the ESOL program and your name is not on this schedule, it means you are in one of my regular classes. However, should you need help with any of your assignments, you can join these groups with the permission of your 4th block teacher.
The following information should help you understand what to expect in the months to come:
ESOL Enrichment:
- The focus of this class will be the English skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- I will provide students a variety of learning experiences that will challenge their intellect, involve thinking skills and broaden their knowledge of the world
- In addition to tests, quizzes and papers, I will assign projects and presentations. This offers other ways for them to demonstrate their talents and be successful in my class
- Students will be expected to have a spiral bound notebook (which is to be used in this class only) and a pen or pencil with them every single day!
- All work is to be handed in on time. Work handed in late will drop by 10% for each day it is late. However, there are times when everyone misses a deadline, so you are allowed to hand in one assignment up to two days late without a penalty per semester. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. Assignments or tests that are missed are to be made up in two days following an absence
Tutor II, IV:
- The focus of this class will be to assist students – in terms of English language – with work and assignments given by their regular teachers
- Students are expected to bring in the work they need assistance with
- In addition, I will provide mini lessons of ESOL to revise, enforce or teach English language
- Attendance and tardies will be counted
Homeroom:
- The focus of this class will be to build on character education, peer tutoring, writing and reading skills and have open discussions on topics related to student’s needs and interests
- I will provide students a variety of learning experiences that will challenge their intellect, involve high-level thinking skills and broaden their knowledge of the world
- Homeroom notebooks for the students will be provided by the school. They will, however, be expected to have a pen or pencil with them every single day! I will let them know in advance when other materials are to be brought for the class.
- Attendance and tardies will be counted
I am looking forward to working and learning with you throughout the year!
