For the 2008-2009 school year, your child will have the opportunity to earn AR points by taking AR tests on the computers at Bostian Elementary School. Please encourage your child to read nightly and choose challenging books within his/her range. I want to challenge all of my students to read and earn points towards their AR goal. Our class took the Star Test on Tuesday, September 2nd. Each child will be asked to check out books that are within their range, which they will find out very soon.
I will print out a Student Report of Books your child has read and earned points on weekly or every two weeks. I want to encourge my parents to look closely at their child's list and discuss the % correct with him/her.
Please encourage your child to check out books from our school library that are challenging. We are not able to always visit the library everyday. Our scheduled library checkout day is on Wednesdays from 10:30 - 11:00.
AR REPORTS
Please look at this report. It lets you know how well your child did on the comprehension questions that went along with their AR book. Your child should be making an 80% or higher on these quizzes. Below the list of books is a number that lets you know how many points your son/daughter has accumulated up to the report's date. If your child is in Mrs. Rymer's class, a different AR goal has been assigned. STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO READ BOOKS WITHIN THEIR RANGE. IF YOUR CHILD READS BOOKS and TAKES TESTS ON THESE BOOKS THAT ARE OUT OF THEIR RANGE, SPECIFICALLY TOO LOW, THEY ARE SUBJECT TO BEING DELETED FROM THE REPORT.
