Welcome!
Mrs. Porcello's 4th Grade
Students,
Are you ever bored?
Go the the links below for some great fun! There are games and activities for everyone!
I teach reading for the Kuss, Pinion and Porcello homeroom classes.
We are having an exciting, productive year!
Please have your child read 20 minutes each night and talk about their reading. Your child should have questions to quide your discussions. Parents, please sign his/her reading log.
We have seen great progress with the students who are commited to reading every night. Thank you parents and students for reading. Reading is like sports, we only get better if we practice.
AR
Congratulations to those eager readers who earned Pin Dodge Ball. We had a blast!
Keep reading, we have another fun celebration planned for those of you who meet your 100% goal! We will make ice-cream sundaes!!!
Each student will need to meet his/her 100% AR goal by April 3rd.Students must read nightly, take AR tests and pass the tests with an 80% or better to count toward their goal for the quarter. Each student is informed of his/her AR progress each week. They also have the opportunity to earn AR prizes weekly. For every 10% of their quarterly goal that they reach, they earn prizes. Some students are earning 5 or 6 AR prizes weekly.
If you would like to donate AR prizes such as, pencils, erasers, colored pens, fun paper/notepads, bookmarks, large paper clips, folders, stickers etc., please send them in with your child marked AR prizes. The dollar store is a great place to get these items. Thanks in advance for your donations!
Spelling lists and reading comprehension homework are handed out on Fridays. Your child should select 3 activities from the grid. Spelling and reading assignments are due on Thursday each week.
