Welcome to the Media Center Home Page for

Bostian Elementary School!

Welcome to the Reading Ranch, Bookaroos!
Get Ready for a Great Year!

We are on a reading journey across the old west, so saddle up!! As students earn Accelerated Reader points and meet their goals, they will take a pretend journey beginning with Snakelick Spur Pass and end up the year at Kit 'n Caboddle Caboose. Students earn Bookaroo Bucks to purchase prizes at the AR Trading Post
which  will be in October.

Are you ready to begin the Battle of the Books?  All students in grades three through five are invited to participate.  Read as many of the books as you can, take AR quizzes, and then take a test to try out for  the team in December.  The Elementary Battle of the Books titles are:

Charlotte's Web, Dear Mr. Henshaw , The Dollhouse Murders, Hatchet, How Tia Lola Came to Visit/Stay, In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson, Jackson Jones and the Puddle of Thorns, The Penderwicks, Rules, Soft Rain:  A Story of the Cherokee Trail of Tears, A Strong Right Arm:  The Story of Mamie "Peanut" Johnson, The Summer of the Swans

All of the books are available at your school library and the public library.  Get your read on!!

Our media center  has a flexible schedule so students may come in to check out books or do research at any time.  They are also having media center orientation sessions during the first few weeks of school.  First grade students will come to the media center for a class with me or Mrs. Clark every Tuesday until Winter Break.  Kindergarten students will come every Tuesday the entire school year.

Remember - Readers are Leaders so Elect to READ!!

Research Question of the Week:  Who won the most  gold medals for swimming in the Olympic Games before Michael Phelps broke his record in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China?  Write your answer and your source and turn it into Mrs. Isenhour for a prize.
