AXA Achievement Scholarships

The Benjamin A. Duke Scholarship Program awards around 10- 15 full merit scholarships to students from North and South Carolina each year. These scholarships are given to outstanding students who have also shown an affinity for leadership and community service, which is broadly conceived and defined in our minds.

North Carolina State United States Bowling Congress Association, Inc. Scholarship
February 28, 2009
Any senior student in a NC high school prior to the age of 22, must be a current member of the NCS USBCA and bowling in a certified USBCA NC youth league, files a completed application with the Association Manager of the NCS USBCA. Application must be postmarked no later than February 28. The applicant must have an unimpaired amateur standing in bowling. Must have a GPA at the school with expectations of admissions to a recognized institution.
The Burger King Scholars Program
Sept. 15, 2008- Feb 2, 2009
Applicants must be high school seniors who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, work part- time an average of 15 hours/ week, 40 weeks/ year, actively involved in community service activities, demonstrate financial need, plan to enroll in an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational/ technical school by Fall of the application year (2009)
Please see Ms. Cesoro no later than January 16, 2009 to be considered.
Applicant must be a US citizen, legal NC resident, prove graduation during 2008- 09 academic year, be recommended by high school, not default on a Federal student loan, enroll full- time at an accredited institute of higher education for the 09- 10 academic year.
The following criteria shall be used to determine recipient: SAT score (minimum 1860) or ACT score (minimum 28), GPA (minimum 3.5), class rank, transcript.

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas Blood Drive Scholarship

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is offering area high school students the opportunity to use their commitment to community service through blood donation to earn scholarship money.CBCC is asking high school students to coordinate a blood drive within their own communities. The student sponsor will have to schedule a date, find a location, and recruit friends and family to donate at their blood drive.

Children of Disabled, Deceased, Combat, or POW/ MIA War Veterans Scholarship Opportunities

If your veteran parent was a resident of NC when he/she entered military service or if you are a lifelong resident of NC and the child of a veteran you may qualify for a scholarship from the state of NC to attend one of the universities, community colleges, or technical institutes within the state.

Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship Program

Applicants must have applied for acceptance for full- time enrollment at a four- year college or university and return the following items to the DeMayo Law Offices by March 3: a typewritten or neatly printed application, a signed, typewritten essay (1,000 words) on the topic provided (topic available in Guidance), high school transcript, SAT scores (if not included on the transcript), and two (2) letters of recommendation
CFNC Financial Aid for Health Careers

The state of North Carolina provides financial assistance in the form of scholarship- loans for individuals enrolled in college programs that prepare students for careers in health disciplines. Students who receive scholarship- loans must repay the debt by working in NC in the appropriate health field for a specified period of time. Borrowers who do not repay the loan in service (by working) will be subject to a cash repayment at 10% interest.

MENSA Scholarship Essay Contest

Applicant must be enrolled, for the academic year following the award, in a degree program in an accredited US institution of postsecondary education, and that an applicant be residing in the participating local group of American Mensa of application. It is not necessary that the applicant be a member of Mensa.

SAE Engineering Scholarships

In recognition of the important contributions made by engineers in improving the quality of our lives, SAE offers more than 60 corporate- and university- sponsored scholarships to qualified students who are interested in the study of engineering and related sciences.
The state of North Carolina provides financial assistance for individuals enrolled in college programs designed to prepare students for careers in teaching and school administration. Some of these programs provide funding in the form of scholarships, which do not have to paid back. Other programs offer scholarship- loans; students who receive scholarship- loans must repay the debt either by working as a teacher or by repaying the loan amount in cash at an interest rate of 10%.

Carnegie Mellon University Scholarships

Carnegie Mellon offers several academic scholarships to incoming freshmen. The scholarships are designed to recognize and reward outstanding academic, artistic, and personal achievement. Financial need is not a requirement.
All admitted students receive scholarship consideration. There is NO separate scholarship application process; however, students must apply for financial aid in order to be considered.

King’s College Scholarships

King’s College will award four (4) $5,000 scholarships to the four highest scores on the College’s general knowledge exam. Please visit the College’s website for further details.

Consideration for ANY academic scholarship is based on a recalculated GPA by Presbyterian College using a four- point scale for core academic coursework earned during high school.
There is no separate application needed to be considered for these scholarships with the exception of the Fuqua Music Scholarship. See due date below:
Students wishing to be considered for the Quattlebaum, Founders, and PC USA Academic Scholarships must submit a completed application for admission by November 15. To be considered for other scholarships, submit a completed admission application by February 1.
