Our classroom assistant is Mrs. Moses. She is a wonderful help to our class. She checks papers, including homework, assists the students with Accelerated Math and subject work, and is an invaluable help to me.

Homework:
Homework is SO important! Please take the time to review and sign your child's agenda (which has his/her homework written in it) EVERY NIGHT. Your child must read every night for at least 30 minutes and study basic multiplication facts.
PTA:
PLEASE consider joining our school's PTA. Your involvement and cooperation are so appreciated!!
This is the link to Millbridge PTA's Website:

Please check it out when you can!
*A BIG HUG and Thank You to those parents who help in giving the teachers duty-free lunch once a month. You wouldn't believe how nice it is to be able to sit down for several consecutive minutes to eat in a quiet place or enjoy conversation with other adults! Our PTA is fantastic! They do SO much for our school as a whole, and the teachers individually. Thank you for supporting them.
Accelerated Reader
Your child is expected to read A.R. marked books (checked out from our school library) and take tests on them on the computer at school to meet their personal goal. This goal is set by your child and I according to their ability. You will continue to be notified as often as possible as to their progress toward it. If a book is not A.R., your child may write a summary of the book to earn the same amount of points. The students who have met their personal A.R. goal will receive a prize!
Grading
Because I use my home computer to average student grades, I am not always able to give you an overview of your child's progress if an appointment is not made. However, if you are interested in seeing your child's grades, please let me know. I will print out the grades of the desired subject to send home for your review. I have begun a new policy that student work is due by the end of the week.

Help! A resource you may want to keep in mind is our school system's website: www.rss.k12.nc.us
It has homework tips and help for parent's commonly asked questions. Look in the departments for the Elementary Education director and find the Third Grade Standard Course of Study to better understand what your child is learning this year.
Questions? Comments? How to contact me:
I welcome your input and want to keep open, ongoing communication with you. Notes are my optimum choice for communication, since I can answer them in between lessons. I check every day to see that each child has his/her agenda. If you need to get a note to me, this is definitely one of the best ways to do it. I will also answer the individual notes stuck inside the Homework Folder. However, if you need to speak with me, please call the school at: (704) 855-5591. You may need to leave a message on my voicemail. I will return calls as soon as possible, but please indicate whether you want me to return your call or not. You may also e-mail me from this webpage. Please don't get discouraged if you don't hear from me right away. Some days are busier than others!!
