SchoolNotes.com - Linking Educators to the Community

Welcome to the Social Studies page of Mr. Reeves !

March brings changes to Mr. Reeves' Social Studies. The World's Religions studies ended and now we are into studying the Middle East.

Debate will take the stage on most Fridays and the students will learn many of the SS vocabulary words they will need to know in their studies for the next three years.

Country assignment:

Each student will receive a country assignment for the year. They will be responsible for finding out what is happening in the country throughout the year.

They will:

1. Gather information about their country in the library, on line, and with the help of their family concerning their country's culture, society, economy, government, military, their youth, educational requirements, location, and all other information pertinent to the country..

2. Using any means possible the student will keep up with the current events of theirt country's culture, economy, governemtn , their youth, and military and will copy the information or use copy and save to a document. Student will keep the articles together by date. We wiill hopefully have three times using computeers at school but your student may want to go to the public library if a computeer with internet is not available at their home to gather information on a regular basis.

3. In the fourth quarteer studentw will do a project using all the information they have gathered. They will do a poster, make an oral reprort of the most exciting or incredible things which happened in their country during the year, do a full color map with a key of their country with physical characteeristics and major cities marked and labeled, and draw their country's flag.

Students will receive six grades on this project. Two for information gathered during the year: one for poster, one for oral report, one for map, one for flag.

Contacts: I ask parents to provide me with an email address so I may contact them if a need arises. Please feel free to call the school and leave a message and I will return the call within 48 hours. You may email me at reevesjh@rss.k12.nc.us. I check my email regularly and will give response to it as soon as possible. You may also use the schoolnotes page to email: http://www.schoolnotes.com/28023/reevesjh.html

Check this website regularly to obtain information on projects and homework as well as the vocabulary words assigned. Those words will be on the flash card section of this website.

Help the Dolphin team help your student become the best they can be. If you help them and we help them they cannot fail in their attempt.

Bring in an aritfact of your family's religion with a real good story to tell about it for an extra credit pass to be used on any asignment.
