"Home of the Faith Firecrackers"Our reading theme for the year is "Clued into Reading". We have many activities planned throughout the year to celebrate the love of reading. NORTH CAROLINA CHILDREN'S BOOK AWARD For the next several months, students in grades K-5 will be participating in the North Carolina Children's Book Award contest. This award was first given in 1992 and each year since then, school and public libraries participate in the process of selecting, studying, and voting for the next winner. Students will become familiar with the nominees through a variety of activities and vote for their favorite title in March. This North Carolina Children's Book Award for 2008-2009 will be selected by our students and students from all over the state of North Carolina. This year's nominees are:
