Dear Parents and Students,

    During the cooling days of October, it is time to focus on fall activities and harvest celebrations. Academically, Granite is settling into our routines and procedures. You should have received your first progress report by now and will be attending our first parent/teachers conference to be scheduled later in the month.

    There are several opportunities during the month of October that I want to remind you about. Next week, October 8th through 12th will be both Fire Prevention week at Granite and an Arts in the School celebration. Our Granite fire department is sponsoring fire truck and Sparky visits, informational sessions, and visits to our campus. We will also have the honor to have artists Terry Schupback-Gordan, Jamie Allen, and Rose Ward visit our campus and share art experiences with your children. Our art teacher, Mrs. Roar, is working in collaboration with these artists and our PTA. Activities will occur both in our art classes and in assemblies.

    In our school community, we will be celebrating our Fall Festival on Thursday, October 25th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Food, fun, and a Halloween costume contest are all on the agenda. Please come and enjoy the evening with your student. Also, on Saturday, the 27th, the Rowan-Salisbury Principal/Assistant Principal's organization will sponsor our annual Silent Auction for High School Scholarships to be held at Carson High School from 4:00-6:00 pm. Food, entertainment, and prizes will be provided. All proceeds from the auction are channeled into senior scholarships at each of our high schools. These baskets make excellent holiday gifts while benefiting a worthy cause.

    Once again, we hope that you can participate in all of these opportunities at our school and in our community. Thank you again for supporting us and your children.
