Mrs. Coggins & Mrs. Schenk's Kindergarten
Our students are off and to a great start. We are very excited about having each and every child in our room. We would like to thank everyone who attended PTA in September. Recently I sent home a reminder for report card conferences. If you are unable to keep this appointment please call to reschedule. Conferences should only take about 30 minutes. During the conference we will go over the report card, AGS testing and ways to help your child this year. If you have any questions feel free to write them down and we will address them during this conference.
In Math over the next several weeks we will be concentrating on patterns (AB, ABC), patterns with motions, and objects. We will be writing numbers 1-5, making sets, and reviewing ordinal numbers.
In Language we will be discussing nouns, punctuation, sound spelling and reviewing all letter sounds.
In Science we will be discussing animal groups and starting our unit on the 5 senses.
In computer lab we will be working on logging in, typing name with the shift key, and animal groups
In Writer's Workshop we will be concentrating on adding details to our pictures, sound spelling, spacing, and labeling
During the month of October we will be taking our first field trip to Patterson Farms. Your child will be eating lunch at Sloan Park and then going to visit Patterson Farms where we will go to the pumpkin patch, feed animals, and go on a hay ride. This trip will be on Friday Oct. 17th.
Also during the month we will be having our Fall Fun Day Oct. 31st. This is where your child can dress in their Halloween costume and enjoy 15 fun filled centers in the Kindergarte. We will need lots of parents to help. More information will be coming home soon about this. Be sure to read our monthly calendar. We have more homework and family projects due during this month.
