Chapter 6 Extra Credit

1.    What is the basic building block of life?

2.    What are the parts of an atom?

3.    What are the four most common elements of life?
4.    Why are acids and bases important to life?

5.    What is the most abundant compound in living things?

6.    Explain each of the characteristics that make water important to life.

7.    Why is diffusion important to life and when does it occur?
8.    List each of the macromolecules and give an example of each.
9.    What is the monomer (subunit) of each macromolecule?
10.  Draw the structure of each macromolecule.
11.  Give the importance of each macromolecule to life.

12.  Draw and label the parts of an enzyme.
13.  Explain the importance of enzymes.
14.  How can an enzyme be "denatured"?

10.  Which type of reaction occurs in order to break down polymers to monomers?
11.  Compare and contrast the organic molecules and their importance to life.

12.  Draw and label the parts of an enzyme.

13.  Explain the importance of enzymes.

14.  How can an enzyme be "denatured"?
