Reading
It will be important that your child read every night. Find subjects that they are interested in to keep them reading. They can even read the paper for 30 minutes. We will be starting reading logs in order to earn pizza gift cards soon.
Your child can find out more about the story we are reading and play games that go along with the story. Just click on E-Word Games or E-Glossary on the left of the website. Reading Story Website
I am so excited many of you requested that I put the spelling list on my website. I found a way to do it quickly, just click here! These are the words for the week of October 6-10. The spelling test will be on Thursday.
Math
We are in Unit 2 right now. If you need help with some of the terms your child is talking about then read more about them by clicking here. I have also created a link that you can find other ways to help your child in math; Parent Link. Do you need just some fun activities for you child to play with on the computer and still learn? Kid's Link
Lunch @ 12:10
Yes, lunch. I want you to know that your child will be expected to take responsibility in keeping their area clean during lunch. We have created a chart so that various students are table washers and sweepers each week. So ask them if they can show you this new skill at home!
We will work on our behavior and trying to eat as if we are out at a restaurant with our family. Ask your child if they know the right behavior such as correct volume, jokes, and staying in our seats.
Writing
Writing journals, letters, reports and narratives will be a part of your child's education this year.
Social Studies
North Carolina students focus on all parts of the state all year. We will learn about past, present and future issues. We will learn cultures, economy and technology in our great state.
Specials
Music - PE - Art
All our specials are 2:00 - 2:45. Art is on Wednesdays, Music on Thursdays and PE on Fridays.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the assignments or your child's development. I am available by clicking on the email above or you may call the school and I will return your call.
