Welcome to my class!!!
We are looking forward to a WONDERFUL year. I am excited about this year and I was so glad to meet all the students and parents that came to Open House on Thursday. THANKS to all who came by to meet us.
Please remember to bring a snack each day!
Math- numbers 0-10 review, number words (zero-ten) review
We are sending home a set of cards that have the numbers and the number words on them for you to please review and practice with your child. You can cut these apart and play a matching game with them. Each child needs to be able to read these number words and match them with the number.
Spelling- NO SPELLING WORDS or Spelling Test yet
Tricky Words-
Skills- review kindergarten skills (colors and color words, alphabet review (upper and lower case letters A-Z)
Writing- Simple sentences using high frequency words (a and to the of like I my see ), write about your summer (independently), practice writing our name

Reading-
So Long Summer booklet, Read All About My First Day booklet, My Best Friend, booklets in our reading series (these will come home)

Social Studies- Meeting People/ Roles in a Family/Differences and Similarities in Families
Science/Health-
Technology-


All first grade students should be able to READ AND SPELL 100 high frequency words by the end of the year.

Please remember to sign your child's noteboook each night and remove their work from the folder. Also if you want your child to eat a snack please send one in daily.

SCHOOL TIMES:
- 7:30- students may begin arriving
- 7:50- bell rings, announcements begin
- 2:17- bell rings for dismissal

OUR SCHEDULE:
- Monday- 8:00 - 9:15 A.I.G (week 1 only), Art (week 1 &2)
- Wednesday- 1:00- 2:00 Music (week 1&2), Guidance (week 2 only)
- Thursday- 1:00- 2:00 Library and PE (week 1&2)
Please remember to return all library books by Thursday every week.
Please remember to wear tennis shoes every Thursday for PE.

Monday, Sept. 1st- NO SCHOOL- Labor Day Holiday
Monday, Sept. 8th- Picture Day - dress to impress
Tuesday, Sept. 9th- PTA Open House meeting - 7:00
Tuesday, Sept. 23rd we will be going on a field trip to Lazy 5 Ranch and Rockwell Park (more info. to come)
Wednesday, Sept. 24th- Midterm Reports go home

We will choose a Star-of-the Week student next week.

We have no birthdays in August!
