Here we are heading into third quarter report cards of third grade. We have worked hard to become honor students and display positive character - making good choices daily.
We have been reading with our buddies in Ms. Eidson's first grade class. We have buddied up with our younger friends to do some sequencing on the life cycle of a frog and identifiying key words when they read. We "encourage" our buddies to "never give up" as they read! We look forward to continue to collaborate with our buddies when they join us for some Earth Day activities. This has helped both our classes to become more patient, better learners. We have begun our exploration of plant life through growing cabbage, Impatiens, and Zinnias. Through the 4-H program, we have joined other classrooms in hatching eggs. Visitors will aide us as we learn more about the incubation process. We also hope to see caterpillars develop into butterflies.
We remain working hard to be good role models for Shive's younger students. We have continued to work with other teachers on special projects. Mrs. Pam Drye, our media coordinator, has helped us research various landforms using several different methods which will aide us as we develop techniques to move us forward to to becoming life long learners. We also have loved the technology projects that she has challenged us to use.
We have worked on knowing our multiplication facts. We are gearing up to achieve a multiplication license. It will show that we mastered facts through 12 tables. Please help us by creating multiplication flashcards and practicing them with your child. Now, we have been working on moving our skills onto division. Please challenge your child. Please continue working your child's weaker areas. It is a necessary building process.
We have been blessed. We have a great deal to be thankful for... the attitudes at Shive are contagious! Thank you families for all the support you've given us. The Myers kids are very prideful! Thank you in advance for your help in our classroom, room 403, on May 3rd. 2008 for Shive's first ever Spring Fling. Your support is much appreciated and necessary to have a wonderful school-wide family event! We look forward to celebrating the year together. Come join us in fellowship! We will be busy collecting items for our Rainy Day family activity basket for the Silent Auction to benefit SWARM, who has done so much for all of us, and for them to help us build an even stronger school. You may consider purchasing a 2007-2008 Ethan H. Shive Elementary School yearbook to remember one awesome first year!
Keep reading at least 4 evenings a week and recording in your logs. Continue to work with flashcards for high frequency words.
