Hey Overton 3rd graders!!!!
Happy April !!!!

In math class, we just started to study fractions.  We found out that you weigh one-sixth less on the moon than you do on Earth.  Our class then converted Earth weights into moon weights.  

We are writing for a purpose.  Our class is writing either stories to entertain, letters to persuade, or paragraphs to inform.  We have also identified the purpose of the author in various texts.  

In reading, we are comparing and contrasting.  Our class is working on making Venn Diagrams to outline similarities and differences in literature.

In Social Studies, we are discussing how change is brought about.  Our class has looked at great Americans such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Susan B. Anthony to examine the way in which they have peacefully fought for equal rights.  

Report Cards were sent home on Monday, April 20, 2009.   Personal Educational Plans must be updated and discussed.  Please schedule a conference to meet with me.
