Welcome to Mrs. Lofthus' Kindergarten Class
My name is Mrs. Kathy Lofthus. My assistants are Mrs. Jackie Miller and Ms. Shanae Webb. We are delighted to teach your child this year. Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day. Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
The focus of our kindergarten program will strive to instill in your child a love of school and a desire for learning. We will plan experiences that will enable your child to:
- make a positive adjustment to school
- learn to be with and work with other children
- nurture a positive self-image
- develop self-control
- encourage creativity
- grow in responsibility and citizenship
There are important ways you can help your child have a positive school experience. Please keep these in mind:
- dress him/her comfortably in his/her uniform
- see that he/she gets a good night's sleep
- be sure he/she gets a good breakfast
- show an interest in what he/she brings home
- encouarge him/her to tell you about his/her day
- remember that he/she has his/her own special rate of development unlike anyone else
- share positive, supportive comments and attitudes about your child's school experience
- keep him/her at home if sick
- label coats, jackets, sweaters, hats, etc.
- relax and enjoy this exciting year of growth
We feel privileged to share this year of development with you and your child. Please feel free to call (704-639-3000 #201) if you have any questions or concerns. I'm looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. K. Lofthus
