WELCOME STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR AT KNOX. LET'S MAKE THIS A GOOD YEAR WORKING TOGETHER!

***KNOX MIDDLE SCHOOL MOTTO--OPENING THE DOORS FOR LEARNING***

Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure that I write this letter.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to teach your child. I will encourage each student to grow academically. My expectations are high! I believe that every child can learn. I am using different teaching strategies and materials to teach the 7th Grade Curriculum (Africa, Asia, and Australia) and reinforce language arts, writing, math, and computer competency skills. READIING WILL OCCUR DAILY TO STRENGTHEN READING AND VOCABULARY SKILLS.

I need your assistance to encourage your child to complete his/her assignments and read daily. Your child will receive homework assignments (not every night) and short-term projects. Check their agendas to see if they are writing these assignments down. If you continue to see no homework something is wrong. CALL HOMEWORK HOTLINE--704-633-2922--EX. 701

PARENTS LET'S KEEP THE DOORS OF COMMUNICATION OPEN. ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO START NOW PREPARING FOR EOG READING AND MATH END OF GRADE TESTS-- PARENTS DON'T WAIT UNTIL MAY. A LITTLE REVIEW OF THESE SKILLS DAILY IS NEEDED. TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT THEIR NEEDS AND COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR TEACHERS ABOUT ANY CONCERNS THAT CAN HELP IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S SKILLS.

Daily your child will need their school supplies, loose-leaf notebook paper, pens, pencils, and colored pencils or, a reading novel. We will also need AA batteries for our Qwizdom Interactive Learning Program.

Tuesday Folders (BLUE)--Look for school news, team Information, and graded papers, etc.

SPECIAL NOTE: GRADE CHANGE-- AN "E" IS NOW RECORDED AS A "F"

Fix, Observe, Communicate, Utilize, Share!

Positive behavior is required for a positive learning environment (classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, sports events, dances, field trips, and the school's ground). Parents/Guardians will be notified if continuous inappropriate behavior by a student disrupts our learning environments.

A signed agenda is necessary for all movement outside of the classroom/learning environments unless the student is supervised by a teacher.

Our uniform policy will be enforced. Appropriate sweatshirts and sweaters are needed for warmth. Coats and jackets must be kept in lockers. They are not allowed in the classrooms.

UNIFORM/BEHAVIOR VIOLATIONS--- Students are required to wear school uniforms the entire school day, unless school events warrant a change in school dress.

PBS STUDENT RULE

I am Safe,

I am Respectful,

I am Learning.
