RULES FOR ROOM 115

Students will follow all rules in the code of conduct and all school rules, including the following classroom rules.

1.                  Listen to the teacher at all times.  I will not ask you to do something I do not think you are capable of.

2.                  No headgear and/or grooming of any kind.  Hoods should be off of your head at all times.  This applies to males and females.

3.                  Be prepared at all times.  Have all materials including homework, every day.

4.                  Show respect to all people and their property at all times.  Leave your work area as you found it.

5.                  Pencils only.  No exceptions.

EXPECTATIONS FOR MY CLASS

1.         Materials you will need:

3 ring binder (at least 1 inch)

Loose Paper

spiral notebook for notes

pencils (NO PENS)

*calculator

*batteries

*graph paper

2.         Grading in this class will go by a point scale.  All of your grades will be fractions, with the number of points earned in the numerator, and the number of possible points in the denominator.  All chapter tests will be worth 100 points.  Quizzes can be worth anywhere between 5 and 50 points.  Homework can be 5 to 10 points per day.

3.         Homework is due at the beginning of class each day.  Homework in my class is designed to reinforce the concepts taught in the previous day’s lesson.  I do not accept late homework for any reason.

4.         Class participation will count as one full test grade each marking period.  At the beginning of the marking period, each student starts with a 100 for class participation, lack of participation in class will result in losing one or two points per day.  Being sent to time-out will be an automatic loss of 20 points.

5.         I will be returning all of your tests and quizzes to you.  It is your responsibility to keep them for your records.  Students will be allowed to retake certain quizzes on their own time.  These quizzes can be made up after school, and must be done one week after the quiz was taken.  The only quizzes that a student may not retake are pop quizzes, notes quizzes, or memorization quizzes, which can happen frequently.  I must be notified in advance if the student plans on retaking a quiz.  I will take the best grade whether it is the original or makeup, so there is no penalty for trying.

6.         By returning your quizzes and tests, I expect students to have a general “ballpark” idea of their grade; however it will not be exact.  I will try to periodically post accurate scores.

7.         If a student misses a day of class, it is his or her responsibility to find out what information they missed.  I am not concerned with making up classwork/homework as much as I am concerned with the topics and information that was missed.  Please refer to the pacing guide for this class on my website listed below.
